Sort of like Hitchcock-lite. The premise is pretty cool, and there are some mildly suspenseful moments. Unfortunately it lacks any real flair, and is pretty predictable.

This is one of Harrington's enjoyable, atmospheric TV movies, adapted by _Baby Jane_ author Farrell from his own novel. Perkins is good in a tailor-made role. This has plot elements looking forward to _Psycho II_ and effectively claustrophobic photography and set design.

It's not that awful about Allan. He's clearly a little psycho, right? This opens with an excellent shot of Norman, er...Allan waking up to a housefire. It slows way down and we begin the questions of whether he is crazy or being catfished. There are a hundred of these stories, my favorite being 1964's Nightmare, and they always work somewhat effectively because it's impossible to tell which way the story will swing.
