Impeachment - American Crime Story

Clinton-Lewinsky as (deservedly) lurid soap opera is deliciously entertaining and enjoyable, thanks to a great cast not afraid to swing for the fences; Paulson’s extraordinary Tripp requiring her to run the gamut of soap opera bitch to genuine pain and fear, and Falco’s sadly brief time in the spotlight as Hillary are highlights. Fine teleplay balances the melodrama of the time with a genuine compassion for all of its characters. Great fun overall, if not particularly insightful or edifying.

Best of the "American Crime Stories" so far, a welcome, even brave righting of historical wrongs. "History repeats itself: first as tragedy, then as farce." Bread and circuses in the corrupt, venial Republic. No one is innocent except the victims used as pawns. To paraphrase HST: "The Clintons will be remembered as a classic case of smart people shitting in their own nest. But they also shit in our nests, and that is the crime that history will burn on their memory like a brand."
