Who the hell gives a kid rocks instead of candy? If I was Charlie Brown, I'd be flinging those rocks back through the house windows.

The most sincere of all the Halloween specials. Poor Linus.

"And what did You get Charlie Brown? - I got a rock." - that tells you everything about the character. Funny and charming is what this short is. I just wished I saw this back in my childhood (maybe my interest in jazz music would've been triggered much earlier).

It's a mediocre movie Charlie Brown. Miserably paced and badly animated, this relies entirely on the audience being familiar with the characters and anticipating the predictable gags. I'll admit I liked bits and pieces but overall it wasn't worth it.

Let's see, a great pumpkin, a tree-eating kite, a World War I flying ace dog (who flew his doghouse). Yeah. Charles Schulz must have done some wicked drugs in his days.

It's hard to believe this came out in the mid 60's. If you watch any other cartoon, or movie or television show, its going to feel more dated than this. It's because the stories are simple, don't rely on current events, fads or anything else. Simple childhood tales being told. That's the real beauty.

Only good if you're the same age as the Peanuts gang. Otherwise for blockheads only

The droll and deadpan Peanuts humor hasn't aged a day, and in fact is probably more fashionable now than it was then.

All the houses throw poor Charlie rocks instead of candy. That is depressing.

Holy pumpkins, Charlie Brown. This was made in 1966!? Three thumbs up to Mr. Schulz for creating something so timeless.

It's definitely super cute and I enjoyed most of it, but those WWI sequences totally lost me; did not care for those one bit. But yeah, it's cute. Had never seen it in my life, btw, so this was my first time watching it.

Rewatch. There are better movies, but I'm hard-pressed to find one that fits the mold of an annual Halloween tradition. I know everything that's going to happen but it still fills me with joy. Charlie Brown's earnestness doesn't get old. Fav scenes: Sally freaking out at Linus for wasting her Halloween; Lucy getting up in the middle of the night to tuck Linus into bed which shows there's goodness in her.

My first proper encounter with the PEANUTS universe - what is interesting (and a bit off-putting) is how unpleasantly down-beat and miserable everyone seems - almost THE ADDAMS FAMILY if the Addams' weren't in on the joke. The iconically low-grade, grimy animation quality doesn't help matters either. As it is, it's a short made for kids so its fairly painless, if ultimately a bit inconsequential.

Eu assisti uma versão dublada no youtube muito estranha em que o dia das bruxas virou dia de todos os santos e que o Charlie Brown tinha a voz do Chaves.

In the Peanuts universe, Halloween is the only day of the year where one of the kids is a bigger fool than Charlie Brown. And all he got is rocks.

Charlie Brown movies don't really do much for adult me. I know that's a hot take, but I just...am not as drawn to these little characters, charmingly animated as they are, the way I used to be. They're kind of all terrible people in some way or another. In the Christmas special, this is somewhat addressed, but it's not here. Here the only arc of the narrative is that having childlike optimism gets you nothing but shattered dreams and no girlfriend. Realistic? Maybe. But not what I want to hear.
