So this is how John Calvin's idea of total depravity makes sense. Seriously, I've seen other romance reality shows that I think are bad...but this makes them all look like quality entertainment. The concept of love being blind is itself ridiculous, but beyond that is the fact that they seemingly have acquired the most desperate, toxic, unloving people (at least for the first season) to be their guinea pigs. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Up there with the best reality shows I've seen ... but, uhm, I haven't seen a lot - honest! By the way, unless you can't get enough of this show you might want to stay clear of the pretty lame additional episodes to season one. They made me question how much of this is real and how much of it is faked by actors.

You get what you expect, and if what you expected was something good, shame on you.

Based on Season 3 only: I've never seen so many metal wine "glasses" ever. I don't watch reality shows, but this one sounded particularly eye-roll-inducing. And much of it was. The manipulative editing gets annoying fast (I know, part of the package). There are so many reasons I'm a crusty old bachelor--I need only look around at the relationships of people I know for insight. Yet...one of the couples is so aware and grounded that it almost makes me think worthwhile relationships are possible.

It's been a long while since I've watched reality tv, but I guess that's what quarantine will do to you. This is actually quite good, largely avoiding the most irritating conventions of reality tv - tons of repeating footage, overused hosts, producer-contrived drama, etc. The characters seem like mostly real people, rather than studio-built to be overly dramatic archetypes.

The premise is amazing but I really hate that (according to tabloids) the editing left MAJOR off-screen developments out, so viewers are left assessing the relationships with missing and distorted details.

[s1, japan] a very guilty pleasure. the editing plays up the drama so you don't see how things resolve but otherwise isn't too egregious
