I have to admit it. I love this show. To me this is one of the best family sitcoms of all time, and I have actually rewatched most of them recently. Lois alone makes this show worthwhile, watching that poor woman put out fires while barely keeping her sanity, but then enter Cranston's portrayal of Hal. It's schadenfreude on a familial level. Each character has their own set of quirks and individual personalities that work really well in playing off each other.

Better than Breaking Bad. Note: lol Lisa's review. I hope she's okay

Strong and consistent sit-com, eschewing a laugh-track for more jokes. Each family member is funny, endearing, and highly relatable in their own way, and each performer matches each other in humour and precision. Although I have no brothers, this show seems to present the awful and wonderful calamity of so many boys under one roof, particularly a financially struggling one, which makes this as hilarious as it is anxious to be an observer of.

Inconsistent comedy that has a few bright spots in Cranston and being mean spirited most of the time.

They kept putting this awful children's show on in prime-time, like it was a proper comedy or something.

Only these days do I see Malcolm in the Middle get even close to the praise it deserved while it aired. I can only be thankful we got six wonderful years out of it. The writing was always stellar tackling the dictionary definition of family dysfunction, but it also wasn't afraid to steer into creative or wacky territory. There's Hal's speedrunning hobby, or the bowling episode, or the "boys as girls" episode as prime examples of this.

Ummm, at the time I didn't really get in to this. Some episodes seemed to be very well written and a barrel of laughs, but they couldn't get backed up the following week. It felt a bit inconsistent week to week, with the exception perhaps of Cranston's goofy dad. Watching a few episodes again recently I feel like the show hasn't aged well, even for what it was.

Hall and Heisenberg: two completely different characters, yet played by the same actor. Cranston is indeed very talented.

One of my favourite comedy tv shows. Has sometimes very bad acting, and some shitty episodes, but I still love it a lot.

This shows really shows you what it was like to grow up in a working class family in the late 90s early 2000s! Extremely funny!

This was always one of my favorite comedy shows growing up. It is really nostalgic now because where Cranston has gone but it is still funny and odd. Two combinations that always make for an appealing show.

Probably the best family sitcom. It is relatable to its core, the story of an actual working class family.
