The 'what if' at the center is really thought provoking, but unfortunately there's not an interesting answer.

Probably one of the most scary and thought-provoking ideas on 'Black Mirror' so far. But once you see where it's going - and you will - it feels like it needs something extra on top of its very strong main concept.

Like a cross between Children of Men and a survival horror game, except it's boring as hell. The concept of the technology is similar to the one in Playtest, making the twist not worth waiting for, so this should've been made into just the one episode. Like other episodes of this season, the concepts are intriguing, but the writing is just so bad, and the direction also make this as bland as it could be. I'll be damned if I'm going to watch the movie-length season finale.

With only a couple episodes left, my least favorite of the new season.

That is what they have to go through to be part of the war machine.

A perfect Black Mirror premise leads into one of their least interesting episodes

On the control of perception as a means of controlling belief and therefore will.

The twist is that this episode has a huge exposition dump. Weakest black mirror on world building and it shows.

eugenics... militarism... xenophobia... there's a lot going on here.

It's certainly a thought-provoking premise, but it was just slow. I feel like I needed more with this one.

The best thing (and scariest thing) about this episode is the way it takes away your freedom and power over yourself. The ability to control what a soldier sees and what they want to kill is truly frightening.

In the near future soldiers will have technology that makes them see the enemy as something less than human, in turn enabling them to commit mass genocide. And..? Haven't societies been successfully conditioning their armed forces to think like this for centuries - millennia even - without the need for fancy gadgets? The most pointless Black Mirror made so far and probably the dullest to sit through too.
