The first season was classy, but a bit dry. As with the superior 'True Detective', the best thing about it was the dynamic between the two male leads. In the second season, in which things gets less clinical (the main focus shifts from the procedural panorama of bureaucracy to actual crime-solving) and more engaging (string of child murders, the strained relationships), Holt McCallany gets the brunt of the screen-time. I hope that this show makes him an A-lister. He's cool.

By now Fincher must have covered all bases when it comes to serial killers, but that doesn't take away from this extremely well executed period piece. And nice to see Holt McCallany put in the front for once.

A slow burning and intelligent exercise in restraint. This reeks so much of peak David Fincher, that your screen feels like it will taste of cigarette, were you to lick it. If this isn't the best series of 2017, it'll do till the other show gets here.

Fincher has a special knack for creating claustrophobia; maybe in 50 years' time they will refer to it as "Fincherian environment". Groff's depiction of the "benign psychopath who tries to understand psychopaths" is excellent too. But the crown jewel is the Kemper character; the pioneering, philosopher serial killer. He had a very weird effect on me; he is really a completely different kind of monster; watch some of his real footage, he is something else. As far as you can go with real material

The premise was great but the execution is horrible. You get very little feel for the characters be it the profilers or the serial killers. The most interesting relationship between Debbie and Holden derails at episode 8 and then magically just carries on in episode 9 just by seeing her. The explanation of profiling is very basic very basic at best. Visually it's pretty but there has to be more to a series than that.

I liked S1 well enough but after watching S2 my whole opinion on the show changed.S2 is vastly better because I thought the main problem of S1 was that it was to slow to start and that the characters weren't strong enough. But by now you have gotten to know these people and in this season they are developed even more. That in addition to the masterful directing and incredibly compelling writing make for a riveting show that demands your attention for every second that it's on.

Cameron Britton captures Ed Kemper so fucking well, I'm a bit shaken just thinking about him. This show will play games with your sanity and leave you ultimately frustrated. Not just because the way season 2 developed, but also the way season 3 never did. And if I hear Holt McCallany is starring in something, you best be damned sure I'm watching it. Guy deserves to helm something new (Iron Claw looks like it will be some serious shit).

Warning, this starts off pretty slow. It's not boring per se it's just a focused dissection. It's precise and lulls you into a false sense of security that you know how this will be. It's nicely shot, acted scored and edited, but the real star is the sheer determination not to over-exaggerate or hyperbolize anything. Some great back and forth between the two agents tops off a pretty solid entry from team Fincher.

TV: slick and compelling long-form drama. A worthy companion to Fincher's Zodiac. Plotting and themes might be familiar but the show goes further in exploring the psychology of all involved. The way in which it invokes comparisons with The X-Files, and plays with the obvious similarities, whilst exploring the FBI mythos that spawned that show in the first place, is a messed up tangle that also says something about the 'killer culture' it portrays. First season peerless, second iffy. |S1:92,S2:84

Season One was very good but for me I thought it went off the rails towards the end. Season Two seemed to recognise this whether by design or through feedback, and corrected course magnificently and stayed consistently great throughout its nine episodes. The second season draws even further parallels with the procedural focus of Fincher's Zodiac, and I personally enjoyed the greater focus on the Tenches and to a lesser degree Dr Carr, with Ford being less front and centre than previous.

A solid show that allows us to see into the minds of history's worst criminals and witness the creation of the term "Serial Killer". When you watch this: pay close attention to our main character (his attitude, his clothing, his perception of the world and people) and how it subtly changes. This review is written after seeing Season 1 and I'm hoping it only gets better for Season 2.

s1-2. i prolly overrated it abit...yes, it is well shot but id say it lacks substance as it deviates from investigative detective genre towards bureaucratic psychological drama which in itself imo doesnot contain much valuable content ...so in result it fails to deliver thrills or suspense or evidence collecting process i wished i could focus on... mindhunter towards any generic detective series is like Looming Tower towards Homeland ...or Leftovers towards Lost

With two excellent and quite distinct seasons down, Mindhunter just might be the best TV drama in the game right now. Seriously unnerving sequences, excellent character work all around and gripping storytelling. I want more of this, much more. The shoulda called this 'Sequence Killers', Mindhunter sounds like an 80's cop parody

If the second season can keep up the momentum that the first season had then this could easily become my favorite show. Its very cerebral, goes into depth with the mind of a killer, seeing the interviews and the intensity these personas give off is pretty awesome. Depravity shows its ugly head in so many various insane ways, trying to figure out the root causes of these behaviors is something I personally would love to be a part of. Very interesting to see the thought process of these killers.

fincher bölümleri: 90. tüm bölümleri fincher yönetseymiş son dönemin en iyi polisiye işi olabilirmiş hissiyatı veriyor, ama elbette hikaye evreleri açısından diğerlerine nazaran daha parlak kısımlar kendisine kalmış olsa da ara bölümlerdeki görüşme veya danışma sekanslarının -ilk ve son bölümlerdeki benzer sahnelere bakarak- fincher'ın elinde bambaşka olacağını tahmin etmek zor değil.

Starts and ends really, really strong. But there's a lot in the middle that drags. It's at its best when actually dealing with the subjects and at its worst when dealing with the personal drama of the leads.

Australian audiences may find themselves distracted by having a protagonist named Holden Ford, but, that aside, this does better than most at complicating perspectives. It's far from immune to Hollywood's silly mystification of serial killers, but it at least avoids the unwatchable self-seriousness of most US cop dramas. The characters often use the word "inappropriate" in its current vague, euphemistic sense, suggesting the writers may be too young to know this is an anachronism in the 1970s.

Gets interesting by the end. Until then the only good parts are the dialogs with the criminals (which seems to be essentially real dialogs) and the dialogs between Holden and his girlfriend (which suffer from an awful case of MPDG).

Taken as a whole, this first season seems incredibly flat, and any progression throughout the show feels weak and piecemeal, particularly the psychological effects on our main men that feels more manufactured than genuine. However, this sort of subject matter tickles me in the right way and the whole show feels like it has the Fincher assuredness, not only technically, but through its dedicated focus on the psychology and lifestyles of the murderously deranged.

It's good. Some of the character beats and changes feel a bit unearned, that goes doubly so for some of the insights Holden has on occasion. Relatively minor complaints when contrasted with the brilliant acting and writing in the killer interviews. The real problem with the show is the 90 second opening credits. We all saw Breaking Bad, you don't have to do this shit any more. In fact, I probably got a better idea of cast and crew on Breaking Bad because of how they did it.

S1: 65 | S2: 70 Mindhunter is one of the more accurate crime shows out there, and the topics it covers are far more interesting. The characters aren’t quite as interesting as the should be, but they’re good enough. Directing is great, not surprised with how much Fincher directed. If you’re into this kinda show, you’ll probably like this.

Season 1 was plenty good enough to hook me, and it really hit its stride in Season 2. Some great dialogue, some not so great, but loaded with fantastic small touches. The muted color palette of lots of grays and browns creates sombre moods and closed-in environments beautifully. I want more... please, Netflix?

Gave up after 7 episodes. So, so, so boring and unnecessary. Abysmal acting by Jonathan Groff, who's the dullest, most unengaging character in a cast of very dull characters. The problem is we are decades ahead of this show's era: everything they discover in the field of criminal psychology is now so well known it's a Hollywood cliche. There are no lively or intelligent characters to make up for it. They are simply really dumb and uninteresting and.. completely dead. i.e: Netlix.
