Review of the first 5 minutes. I hate jokes in the titlecards so much that it's an instant quit, even if it's Lindelof. Maybe i'll give it another chance when my anger has cooled.

Poor writing at times was saved by fun quirks and decent characters, my will to know how this whole thing ends carried me throughout. I'm not interested enough in the whole christian mythos to care about that aspect of the show, and overly "random" shows don't do much for me. But it wasn't bad really, and I don't regret watch it. I just won't be watching more (if it continues).

I really like the weird mashup of religious themes and an alternate reality sci-fi dystopia. The religious stuff is handled in a really unconventional way too, which I found really fascinating. Betty Gilpin is awesome as always, and for the most part I enjoyed the plot, although some of the characters and side storylines weren't quite as interesting overall. I got an email survey which seemed to suggest a season 2 is being considered, so I'm curious what that would be.

I was hesitant to try it precisely because it sounds too much like Preacher, which was an exceedingly pointless show in its own right. Turns out it's got nothing to do with Preacher and I expect it to end up as the craziest show released this year - for much more substantial reasons than the superficial weirdness of the premise.

Deep themes explored and heightened by the comedic absurdism. Even though this show had a bouncy and snappy irony keeping it ticking over I could not help but be moved by the Jesus Café scenes which felt utterly authentic (as a non-religious person this surprised me). It was like a meta-ironic retelling of the Ecstacy of Saint Teresa of Avila. Loved it!

How is it even possible to be this creative?

This is a provisional rating based on the first half of the series, but it's already so bonkers it has already topped the Leftovers in terms of wild creativity. We'll see if it also has a soulful and poetic side to it, like Lindelof's previous gem had.

Betty Gilpin'in performansı iyiydi ama Jake McDorman vasattı. Sıradan...

This is an "everything happens" show. The writers thought: "What's the wackiest thing that could happen in the next 10 seconds?" And wrote that. And repeated for the entire runtime. It's like if Jay & Silent Bob were the stars of "Preacher". I forced myself to finish the first episode.
