The Father Thing

By far the worst episode of the PKD Electric Dreams series, this visually rips off a whole bunch of other things that have done it better - Body Snatchers, Tommyknockers, Stranger Things etc. None of it adds up to any sense of dread whatsoever, the worst thing the alien leader does is throw a baseball at his redheaded stepchild son's chest while ranting about how the world is unfair to lefthanded people.

The Father Thing was a disappointing episode in a strong 2nd half of the anthology series. It blends the plot of generic body-snatcher horror films with the style of populist 80's child-led adventure dramas. It's alright and a competent take on paranoia, but ultimately forgettable.
