Almost bailed at the first sight of Corden but JD and DH's immense charm helped me through. A featherweight bit of Curtis that seemed both too silly for adults and too slow for children.

The favourite Dahl of my childhood gets a slightly unfortunate Richard Curtis treatment. The central story remains as charming as always, and Hoffman and Dench are nice pieces of casting but the positives stop there. The deeply unpleasant televisual tumour that is James Cordon should be enough to put you off if nothing else does.

Mostly lacklustre adaptation, despite the presence of Hoffman and Dench, of the book.

Kaplumbağaları her gün değiştirip yakınlaşmak ister. Renkli set tasarımı çok iyi. İnsan sevdiğine kavuşmak için neleri göze alır? Filmde 2 ayrı son ile bitiriyor. Uyusun da büyüsün Alfie.

A sweet little Roald Dahl story becomes a quaint play-for-TV, with real star quality in the two leading roles. The minimal settings and bright direction are easy on the eye, but the performances from these two veterans are what make it. Unfortunately, James Cordon has to stick his fat, unfunny face into proceedings at regular intervals to help the narrative along, and I'd be lying if I said he didn't bring the whole thing down a notch. But at least he's not there to stink up the main scenes.

Cute senior romance written by Roald Dahl. Simple and charming with Dustin Hoffman & Judi Dench being almost child-like in their courting. As much as I enjoyed this made-for-TV movie, I feel this story would be a even greater as a animation film. Hope someone competent tries to make it!

A little slow-moving (appropriately, for a tortoise-based story, I suppose), and it doesn't seem to be certain of its audience, trading in the whimsy of the book for deeper romance. But gosh darn it if it didn't completely and utterly warm the cockles of my heart regardless. Dench and Hoffman are on fine form, and though this is "only" a TV movie, production values are top-notch, with an enchanting colour scheme the most notable of the tech specs.
