As a teenager in the mid-1980s, went through a stage where I saw a fair amount of this, finding it kind of amusing and strangely fascinating. My recollection is that the ludicrous narratives were presented in a way that seemed distinctly ironic, with the characters played by Nicolas Coster and Lane Davies, in particular, adding a kind of sardonic atmosphere, with dialogue that could almost be described as witty. I don't expect to go back to it now to discover if these recollections are valid.
