An interesting piece on masculinity. Funny and stupidly enjoyable.

Takes the idea of "burning shonen spirit" and says, why is this important? What are its problems? What problems does it address? What does it say about humanity? And then answers those questions in loving detail as part of one of the best examples of the genres it's deconstructing, ending up with a big arrow pointing towards "what is non-toxic masculinity". Its fingerprints are all over Studio Trigger's works, for the better, and they expand on it beautifully. Could be more gay tho

Season 1: Gurren Lagann is a really good anime, sporting an awesome story, with unforgettable characters. Combining the over-the-top action with the evolution of a good story, it hits a lot of nails right on the head. That being said, I never felt like it evolved into everything it could be. Granted the show is really good, but I don't think it hit all the strides it could have.

Bettered by many other anime in almost every single way. Doesn't grab your attention, wouldn't even bother to pass the time with this one.

One of my favorite anime series. Easily accessible and still firing on all cylinders.

Great show. Both in it's display of spirit and animation. My favourite. A couple infamous episodes bring it down though.
