Episode 3 is amazing, the rest is pure garbage.

Chris Carter's new mythology episodes suck major ass. Clearly, Darin Morgan's two funny and original contributions, 'Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster' (s10e03) and 'The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat' (s11e04), are the best thing by far about this revival, but I actually had a lot of fun with most of season 11. And now that I am hooked and crave more nostalgia with my favorite special agents, Anderson has, of course, it seems, pulled the plug for good.

Kind of feels like one of the more interesting shows on TV circa the early 90s, but one that hasn't really evolved with the times much and blends in with the crowd a lot more in 2016.

While it doesn't reach the highs of the original, the tradition of the best episode being a the one off "silly" one holds true.

S11 - However different from the atmosphere of the original, it is very refreshing to see a show giving a light-hearted take on the left/right forceful deepthroating of political drivel nowadays, and to even mock its severity. 'Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster' is hands-down THE highlight and should rank among the series' absolute best, presenting an ingenious and truly captivating laugh-out-loud hilarious story with a quirky eccentric and unforgettable character and great interactions.

I stand by the fact that The X-Files doesn't hold up to the scrutiny of modern television. People thought seasons 8 & 9 were bad, but this revival incorporating season 10 & 11 really show Carter's limits as a creative and show runner. The funnier episodes are alright, but the rest are just forgettable, and the expanded mythology almost seems to be an insult to what came before.

This feels like the inverse of the original show in one key way. For the original show, the bad episode is an outlier and the overarching story is good. In the reboot the good episode is the outlier and the mythology episodes are just boring rehashes of now very dated conspiracy theories. Duchovny and Anderson still seem invested so I can't hate it, I just think it kinda stinks and doesn't need to exist.

An utterly pointless addition. It makes little sense and brings nothing new to the table.
