Akai hankachi

..where "85" = pretty good watch! Laid back crime thriller - somewhat predictable parts but a surprise in others. Cinematography is excellent as is the acting. IMO this synopsis bit could be misleading - "knowing that his inevitable doomed fate is more or less sealed" so don't avoid because of that, as I almost did. Tho occasionally wanders as regards plot, overall I liked it a lot - there is a repeated song but it is so well done I thought it was a plus. A somewhat gentle, colour noir perhaps?

Great directing from Toshio Masuda. Unfortunately, the plot meanders after a while (the main character's actions make no sense).
