One feels the production team failed to communicate with each other regarding their intentions for this film: commentary is attempted on every level, but it's incongruous and ineffectual at best. It's not long, but in many ways feels it, its slipshop construction and lackluster storytelling failing to produce anything consistently compelling.

Having no prior experience with the novel, I enjoyed this but don't think it's great. It is competently made in all ways, and has some interesting ideas that it doesn't really explore as much as I would have liked. Despite that, I was really surprised by where this went and that was endearing. I knew something was coming because the tone was so menacing for a drama, but I didn't know what. It felt Get Outish until it swerved.

Beyaz giyme toz olur. Siyah giyme söz olur.

While not entirely successful (if not dated by the source material) as social commentary, this is still a haunting and compelling experience, with Sanders excellent as the disaffected lead, and a general eerie timelessness in the adaptation, this strikes an uncertain, oppressive mood which becomes hypnotic after a while, even if the later story turns are not especially convincing (the major plot turn is botched in its execution, played troublingly for gallows humour). A mixed bag but worthwhile.

This was disappointing. It started off strong, then it was like the filmmakers lost all interest. The second half feels like first takes and sketches; like they rushed to turn something in.

Not entirely my thing from a story perspective. Looked alright but all these movies that are just about like the BLACK experience are just the same sort of trauma stuff over and over again. Not a shock that the director is from an upper middle class background . Minor threat and Dead Kennedys on the soundtrack tho
