Old Boys

Small in scope and ambition but enjoyable for what it is; an hour and a half with some likeable characters.

Romantic Comedy played by teens for adults. Not funny ha-ha but British humor... you know.

What A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon was to River Phoenix, Old Boys is to Alex Lawther. A mega talented actor in silly, playful comedy-drama, with heavy, absurdist British accents, which mostly doesn't attempt to take itself too seriously, but when it does it's ineffective. It's a modern take on Cyrano de Bergerac--a task harder to fulfill well with each new decade--but this one is just a bit zany, at least for me. It has its place, but it's nothing terribly impressive or new.
