I don't see any reason why Alverson makes such stylistic choices. What's the relation between his ethical stance, his world, and the language he uses. I couldn't find any except an imitation of a grammar that is associated with "arthouse." Slow shots, 4:3 format, silent characters. Besides, why does he use psychoanalytic tools and focuses on Andy's inner repression to shed light on a dark time from US history? Also, the mood is stuck in-between Lynch and Andersson. Pretentious and failed.

Very good cinematography. The story did not develop nice.

Alverson should stick to keeping Turkington & Heidecker as his co-writers because this was near unwatchable, frankly.

Denis Lavant gives an animated and interesting performance, but for the rest...long stares into the middle distance does not an art house film make.

Yönetmen, seyirciyle güzel dalga geçmiş. Tye Sheridan da bacaklarını gövdesinden nasıl büyütmüş bilmiyorum. Ne sporu yapıyorsa artık. Oynatmaya az kaldı doktorum nerede?
