First part of the unfinished trilogy about a period of the hungarian history.

During World War II, a group of Hungarian peasants work as migrant farm workers in northern Germany, enjoying good wages and the company of their families. But after they witness the ill-treatment of POWs there, they return to Hungary where they are plunged into the realities of the war. (worldscinema.org)

The plot of the film takes place just after the end of the Second World War in the town of Palánk (actually Šahy where Ballek grew up) on the border of Slovakia and Hungary. Štefan Rie?an comes here to take over the butchery together with his wife and daughter. However, it has one catch, because the former owner was left with the assistant Volent Lan?ari? in the apartment and butcher shop. (Wikipedia)
