Police Cadet '84 was a TV series which included such stars in TVB as Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, and notably, Carina Lau. The story centered on a couple of young "cadets" in the Police Cadet School. Tragedy, romance, conflicts, and intrigues were featured. The series was immediately followed by a sequels titled "New Police Cadet '85" and "New Police Cadet '88". Both sequels stars Tony Leung. The story begins with the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong coming to an end in 1945 and the remaining Japanese dying or leaving the territory. The British colonial government have yet to fully resume its duties. Citizens themselves are flushing out the remaining traitors one by one. Soon, multiple societies of different legions were formed within the HK underground. Each one tries to control the city in a time of very weak and corrupt governance.

A group of Vietnamese refugees in HK kill on order of their superiors who said to get them to the US. Their hopes are shattered when their leader sends them against his boss and he is about to kill them when it's done. (imdb)
