Miguel Echegaray

Cinematic adaptation of the zarzuela (the Spanish lyric-dramatic genre) of the same title, directed by Florián Rey. Performed by Carmen Viance, José Nieto and Marina Torres. It was one of the biggest blockbusters of the Spanish silents and takes place in times of the Cuban war.

Television film of the Spanish zarzuela. In turn-of-the-century Zaragoza, Pilar is waiting for her fiancé Jesús to come back from the war. She receives a letter from him, but since she can't read, asks an army sergeant acquaintance to read it to her. Unfortunately, he has an agenda of his own. (Timon88)
