Andy Garcia smolders with gravitas and intensity in a way he has had trouble matching ever since. classic scene in a rainy dump in the beginning, where he uncovers a severed hand. John Malcovich nearly steals the film in a series of interrogations as a smarmy investigator trying to pin the murders on Garcia, and Lance Henrikson puts in some very solid character work. Uma Thurman looks great and the film has a surprise ending that satsifies.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Needs to be reintroduced to a new generation, and could easily be remade today. Beatty is kickass in a lcaonic way, with some cool fights and chases has he tracks a shadowy organization. I like it most for its blaring lack of a constant underscore/soundtrack like most action thriller today, which over-engineer the sound. this has a ta
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

Weaver packs a pnch but Lance Henrikson is most special in his droid role. Colors are amazing and unlike many of Tim Burton;s films, the story and plot do not suffer at the expense of directing wizardry. Only flaw is way the grown-up son is written -- he is overlyangry at his father and comes of callow instead of searching for greater meaning of his complicated father. i resented the character and it took me out of the story at times. Jason Statham is almost revelatory in his grim, workman-like preceision as he dispatches baddies with grace. The story is choppy and sometimes feels like one of those clumsy, dubbed martial arts pictures, but you aren't here for taut plotting -- this is an action-fest and wild ride. From that standpoint this film is a solid 85. From a filmmaking standpoint, it is a 65.
