The past comes back to haunt the residents (of Cicely) when Maurice works himself into a minor heart attack while over-fretting his age. Maggie relives a childhood fantasy, and Joel traces the history of Cicely to long-forgotten Jewish predecessor.

The residents are unnerved by the annual visit by the mobile dentist; a wax museum's likeness of Maurice is so lifelike that it disturbs everyone.

Bernard arrives with his new girlfriend and learns that Chris used to live with her; Marilyn begins choosing her dates based on their medical history.

Maurice tries to outsmart a wealthy American Indian landowner when making a property deal; Maggie is asked to be Cicely High School's homecoming queen.
