Old film about a sailor who gets killed..

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help naming a movie!

Basically it was a kind of Mary poppins era style film about a sailor who gets killed after docking ashore, I think he was killed in a fight, the film is about him getting a second chance at life so he can reunite with his daughter, but he has to put his wrongs right first before they can reunite.

I know it's a long shot, but I'm greatful for your help.
