Seven Pounds (2008)

Post by warrensm »

Though it's not Will Smith's worst movie, it's definitely his most unsettling, most unpleasant and most unexplained movie. In Seven Pounds, his character's backstory is that he caused a multi-car crash that kills his fiancée, as well as six other strangers. In order to seek redemption, he plans to kill himself so his own vital organs can be donated to seven strangers in need. On top of the lack of explanation and logic in the story, Will's character comes off as a mean-spirited jerk. In the opening, he verbally berates a blind man over the phone. Now there are a few good performances from Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson. However, this movie could've done better with its main character.

Score: 44/100

Reccomendation: Only if you're a Will Smith fan.
