Export Collections and More: Updates for 15 September 2025
Published 15 Sep 2025

We've just unleashed another big batch of bug fixes and new enhancements to Criticker! Kind of a belated twenty-year birthday present to ourselves. There are a lot of updates and repairs in this one... take it as a signal that we don't plan on coasting during our third decade of existence!

Enhancements

Export Collections
A request we receive a lot is the ability to export collections. And we've now introduced it! You can now export any of your own collections, including “special” collections such as your watchlist, submitted films, and list of ignored films. We offer downloads in the following formats: HTML, TXT, CSV, XML

What’s more, if you’re a Criticker Sponsor, you can download any collection that you have access to, including collaborative or public collections moderated by other users! So, if you run across a particularly cool collection… say “Existential films”, you can now export that for your own, offline tracking.

Invite More Kumpels
One of the best parts of Criticker is comparing your taste with friends and family. And now we’ve made it easier than ever to get connected with the people you know. On the Kumpels page, the Resources page, and Your Profile, you’ll now find a link that allows you to invite your buddies to Criticker. If they sign up after having visited the “referral” link, you’ll be added as each others' mutual kumpels automatically.

Film/TV Option Added to Trending Streaming
We’ve added the ability to filter JustWatch’s streaming charts on either Movies or TV Shows. So now, if you want to check out what TV series are trending on streaming platforms… or even crime series… or even crime series just on Netflix… you can do that!

Bug Fixes

No way to update payment method - Criticker Sponsors who need to update their payment method in order to keep their subscriptions active are now able to do so, thanks to a revised workflow with our payment processor. You’ll find the option on your profile page!

Compact Row too large by default - We cleaned this up so that the compact row actually is more compact and doesn’t repeat the “more” expanding link.

On Mobile the Recommendations Page is cut off - This was happening semi-frequently on the main Recommendations page, pushing the content off the screens. We’ve adjusted layout so that it looks better on mobile.

Ignore Articles for Sort in Collection Moderation - This was a bug where in the Collection Moderation screen, a title such as “The Baltimorons” was being listed under “T” instead of “B”. It’s been repaired!

Redirect on Successful IMDB Search - Criticker has long allowed search by IMDB ID, but now when you do this, it will take you directly to the matching title. For people who often search that way, this will save an extra click and page-load.

Profile Dropdown Alignment with Banner - When the banner ad is activated, there was a small formatting issue with the Profile dropdown, on mobile. We’ve fixed that up, so that it appears in its correct position.

Sponsor top 100s - Criticker Sponsors are able to scroll through the Top 100 most-rated films of any decade, and any year, to see which they might be missing from their own ratings lists. But the optional filters to narrow the list to “just unrated” or “just rated” titles wasn’t working. Now it is!

Cleanup season/episode filmmaker credits - This was kind of a complex one, but I think we now have it working properly. There are a few situations we have to account for:
  • If a filmmaker is listed in the credits of the TV Series. (See “Shooter”, for Ryan Philippe).
  • If a filmmaker isn't in the credits for the series, but is in the credits for season (see "True Detective, Season 4" for Jodie Foster).
  • If a filmmaker is not listed in the credits of the series, or in the credits for a season, but is in the credits for individual episodes. (See “I Love That For You”, for Ryan Philippe).
TIP Sidebar IMDB Link - Because it’s a frequently-used utility, we’ve moved the IMDB Link up in the list of sidebar actions!

Poster persists after choosing other edit - A strange little bug that occasionally happened when editing title information. Basically, choosing between the “edit types” loads the different dialogs. But, if you had chosen “poster”, then those dialogs persisted even if you now tried to choose something else, such as “runtime” or “language”. It’s been fixed!

New Releases on Critcker RSS - If you use RSS feeds, you'll find a new one for New Releases -- basically just a feed updated daily, with all the films marked as Currently in Theaters on Criticker! You can find the link on the New Releases page, as well as on the Feeds & Exports resource page.

Profile XML has Rating Instead of Date - This was a bug where the ratings export was showing the improper data in the “date rated” field. We’ve fixed that up!

LazyLoaded Reviews missing stars - A bug was causing the star and sharing icons to not load for any reviews that were dynamically loading, after scrolling down to the end of ratings, on a title with many. That’s now been fixed!

"Other" instead of "Additional" Updates - Someone noticed a small wording improvement we could make. Instead of “Additional”, they should be called “Other” Updates in the dropdown for making edits to titles. We’ve done that.
