This unusual musical tells a story...a love story, between a girl (Gruszka) a and a boy (Filimonov). The film is divided into several scenes, each with their own title (like songs in an album).

Egor is a state forest guard in the Siberian Taiga. He is a good family man, respected by his fellows. He and his wife Natalia are expecting a second child. One day Egor finds out that he has cancer and only 2 months left to live. No medicine or magic can save him. Left with no options, he takes a desperate attempt to trick death, choosing to take the identity of a woman as a way of fighting the disease based on a local folktale.
