Ann-Mari Max Hansen

Line ( Ann-Mari Max Hansen ) and her husband (Soeren Spanning) are going through marriage difficulties. They have two chidren, Hoene (Kathrine Helmuth) and Torben (Torbjorn Rafn), but they are not enough to bridge the gap between their parents. Before the final split can happen, Line discovers she has a virulent form of cancer.

Filming of Martin A. Hansen's highly read diary novel about Johannes Vig, middle aged school teacher on the small island of Sandø. He is in love with his former student, merchant daughter Annemari, whose fiancee works on the mainland, as the ice has cut off Sandø from. While John is hesitating, Annemari instead chooses a younger engineer who represents all the modern ideas that offer the school teacher.

The story follows a group of women in a maternity ward for women with complicated pregnancies. The women have different ages and backgrounds, but in spite of their differences, they develop a special bond.
