Although King Cat was one of Chang I's earliest films, the young actor was already showing the promise that would make him the star of countless Shaw Brothers' martial arts movies. The action kicks off when Liu Yuen Ying (Ding Nung) is "bride-napped" by a bandit who's out to make her his wife! The bandit's sympathetic sister returns Ying, but that's only the beginning of the mistaken identities, social satires, and cross-dressing confusion as Ying's disappearance and return wreak havoc with the locals! A delightful costume comedy that combines screwball antics, musical interludes, and even a little action.

David (Qiao Zhuang) and Mona (Yu Qian) are a spoiled brother-and-sister duo who carelessly use the family fortune to while away their time. David's friend Hanming (Yang Fan) introduces him to the lovely Danfeng (Jenny Wu), and despite Hanming's quiet infatuation with her, David moves in quickly. David and Danfeng get married, but lasting bliss is not in the cards. Mona develops a serious case of jealousy against Danfeng for snatching her brother AND being the object of Hanming's affection.
The contemporary issue of single mothers is sensitively handled in this melodrama as a young woman must decide whether she will tell the new man in her life the real truth or forever remain the child’s auntie Lan.
