To escape the police, the stooges pose as plumbers and are hired to fix a leak in a fancy mansion. They wind up crossing the electrical system with the plumbing and generally ruin the place. One memorable scene has the lady of the house tuning into a television broadcast from Niagara Falls as a torrent of water pours from the set. Good samaritan Shemp rescues a girl from an accident, and a newspaper photographer snaps a picture of her thanking Shemp. The paper mixes up the caption, implying that Shemp and the girl are lovers. This doesn't sit well with Shemp's fiancee, who breaks off their engagement, leaving him so heartbroken he asks the rescued girl's gangster boyfriend to kill him. When Shemp's intended returns and apologizes, he realizes that his days are numbered unless he can find the gangster and call off

Sterling works as a woman's hosiery salesman, and marries one of the office secretaries only to find out that his boss has just decided that anyone in his employ that gets married will be fired. His antics to keep his wife and his boss apart leads to troubles on both fronts.

Hugh is a businessman who is stressed out with work, so he decides to rent a cabin in the mountains for a weekend of relaxation, but a crate containing a live gorilla is delivered to the same place, causing pandemonium.

The Reds imprison him and send in his place a spy who is his double, but who is instructed to come out for Communism. The spy is accepted in Burnside's home town, and he reports to local Communist headquarters, where James John, prominent local businessman but in reality a Red agent, has instructions to assist him in all details of his mission.
