Writer Dick Kendred returns home after being turned down by various publishers on his latest book. His friend, and crush, Diane suggests he rent the spare room at the house she's been staying in with her friend Sheila and Sheila's teenage daughter, Haley. Diane is busy with work and doesn't seem to have any interest in him, but Sheila and Haley both develop a strong interest in Dick.
