Engholm

The film is based on the comic strip by Kaj Engholm and Olaf Hast. It was the inaugural film in a series of eight Father of Four films made by ASA Films, one each year from 1953 to 1961.

This is about a family dad - father of four who wins a trip to Norway to go skiing with his children. He wins it from the local newspaper, because two journalist from the paper, sees him going to work, being kind to others, helping people on the bus and so on. One of the journalist is going on the trip also to take pictures of the family, and a little romance comes to light between the journalist and the eldest daughter of the children.

Peter succeeds in persuading Dad to have the summer vacation at a beautiful fishing village in Jutland. Ole, Mie and play cowboys & Indians while Dad buries his nose in a thick novel. Their idyllic holiday is threatened when the kids venture out to sea in a rowboat.

Father stands to get sacked after 20 years of faithful service in the company, but Ole and Mie implement a plan that saves the family economy.

At home in the small family is nothing new. Tiny Per is the school's mischief maker, Sister has heartaches, Mie and Ole has to be in the school play, etc. But suddenly something happens. Good old Uncle Anders has a twin brother in the United States. He called Sofus, and now he comes home to celebrate 70th birthday. He was a troublemaker when he left and now he has become even worse.

There's a party on Father's path. Pat and Peter are getting married. In a great coach arrives she Far from the church. Uncle Donald, Mrs Sejersen, Ole, Mie and Lilleper attends the solemn act, and afterwards celebrates the whole family wedding in the small home. After cheer sent the two young people off on honeymoon. The next morning begins duties again for the kids, and now it Mie, in charge of the household.
