Maya Vinodini (Amala), who grew up unparented but with lots of money sent to her via her local guardian Sivaprasad (Prathapachandran), is the leader of a bunch of boisterous girls at St. Mary's College. When taunted by Dr. Srinivasan (Suresh Gopi) about the identity of her parents, she sets out to find them. After discovering that her mother is the famed Carnatic singer K.S. Vasundhara Devi (Srividya), Maya sets off on a quest to make her mother accept her & reveal the identity of her father.

19-year old Kannan (Sangeeth), who lives with his family in Trivandrum, comes with his mother (Srividya) to their ancestral home of Koyikkal, during a vacation, where all of their family planned to have a get-together. There, he reunites with his cousin & childhood playmate, 16-year old Radhika (Sonia), who had come to dance at the family temple & who was all set to go to USA to join her family. Kannan falls in love with Radhika & tries to woo her, with not so good side-effects.

Vinayachandran (Mohanlal), who joins the prestigious Preference School as a Malayalam teacher, approaches teaching with his unorthodox ways & prompts the students to be free thinkers, inviting the ire of the school management. On a personal level, his harmonious relationship with his wife Sindu (Samyuktha Varma) is threatened after Sindu's younger sister Bala (Geethu Mohandas) comes for a vacation & tries to copy Sindu's mannerisms & makes overtures towards Vinayachandran, in Sindu's absence.

Moz D. Samuel (Dileep) & little girl Tessy (Nivedita), who stayed afloat doing petty theft, meet rich girl Nandana Vasudev (Aswathy Ashok), younger sister of millionaire businessman Sumesh Vasudev (Rahman), during one of their capers. Nandana was in town to get Sumesh back to Bangalore, while Sumesh was hellbent on killing his ex-partner & current rival Panackal Das (Manoj K. Jayan), who had gypped him. Nandana develops a fondness towards Moz & Tessy & seeks their help in getting Sumesh back.

Police Commissioner Babu Mohan IPS (Mukesh) & CI Appukkuttan (Sreenivasan) tries to stop Ramesh (Vineeth), an obsessed fan with suicidal tendencies, who was stalking pop star Merlin Fernandes (Shobana). In his bid to unlock Ramesh's mind, Babu Mohan delves into Ramesh's troubled childhood to find answers.

Girly Mathew (Nadia Moidu), an effervescent girl from Delhi, comes to the town of Karamalloor to reunite with her grandmother, Kunjoonjamma (Padmini). Kunjoonjamma, living a secluded life, angry at Girly's father Mathews (K.P. Ummer) for having taken away her daughter Manikutty & her granddaughter, & blamed him for her daughter's death, refused to accept Girly at first, but Girly wins her over, & they soon become inseparable.

Dr. Vinayachandran (Mammootty), a cardiologist & a Hindu, marries Neena (Suhasini), a Christian girl whom he meets in Ooty, after she surmounts her family's stiff opposition. However, soon after giving birth to a girl child, Vineetha, Neena dies in an accident & a distraught Vinayachandran leaves Ooty with Vineetha. Years later, Vineetha & Vinayachandran return to Ooty for a vacation, but Vinayachandran now has to fend off Neena's family who wants them, especially Vineetha, to stay back in Ooty.

Sudhish Kumar aka Sudhi (Kunchako Boban), a Hindu boy, & Mini (Shalini), a Christian girl, meet & fall in love, but face fierce opposition from both their families. With Mini's elder brothers out to kill Sudhi & take Mini back, they take refuge in a fishing village, under the protection of fisherman Chellappan (Innocent), their friend Chippayi's (Harisree Asokan) father.

Hotshot lawyers Harikrishnan aka 'Hare' (Mammootty) & Harikrishnan aka 'Krishnan' (Mohanlal), at the behest of Hare's sister Ammalu (Shamili), takes up the case of defending a mute & deaf man, Gabriel (V.K. Sriraman), who was accused of killing a young college professor & poet Guptan (Rajiv Menon). However, when they meet Meera (Juhi Chawla), whom they first suspected to be Guptan's girlfriend, but who later turned out to be just a friend to Guptan, they also start competing to win her heart.

A deaf & dumb boy, Benny, witnesses two murders, including his own mother's, runs away & ends up in the hands of Kiran (Mammootty), who had been grieving his own family's loss an year ago & had taken to drinking. Kiran forms a deep bond with the boy, but meanwhile the killers had tracked the boy down & were on his tail.

Hemachandran (Hemanth Menon) takes a fancy to next door flirt Shyama (Sreelekha) & for the first time, Shyama falls for real too. However Shyama's grandad Vasudeva Kartha (Nedumudi Venu) warns him about Sathyamurthy, a maniac out to kill Shyama & also about her horoscope which predicted her death or her hubby's in 6 months, if she was ever to marry. Scorning the idea, but wanting to end Shyama's fear, Hemachandran marries Shyama, but moves in alone to a haunted house to disprove the horoscope.
