Hassan, the Kadi of Bagdad, has a harem housing 12 beauties, but concentrates his attention on Zohara. A newcomer, Kyra, introduces rebellion into the harem by the unheard of act of complaining to the Caliph about the lot of the women in the harem. Hassan suffers a greater shock when his God-son, Ezar, asserts that women are the equal of men. For some unknown reason, the sale of waffle irons has plummeted, equally and negatively affecting family owned and operated Four Square and Magic Circle, two of the leading waffle iron companies. What could be both companies' saving grace is that their respective presidents, Richard Wright and Evelyn Foster, are in love with each other, with their personal merger in terms of a marriage resulting in a planned business merger of the two companies.

News photographer/journalist Bob Wilson is assigned to get photographs showing how a popular local magician, Professor Jasper Murdock, does his tricks. Wilson wrangles a dinner invitation to Murdock's home and takes a keen interest in the magician's daughter, Dolores.
