The Tiger of Eschnapur (originally Der Tiger von Eschnapur) is a 1938 German film directed by Richard Eichberg.

Arnold Horn, a young idealistic chemist, discovers a compound that can be used for the production of an effective deadly poisonous gas. Against his will the chemical factory starts production of the poison gas to increase the value of their shares.

Cagliostro, an Italian adventurer played by the almost unnaturally handsome Hans Stüwe, rises through the French aristocracy on account of his magical tricks, medical knowledge and ability to foretell the future. When he falls from favour after a divination that predicts a dire future for Marie Antoinette, he sets in motion a plan that will result in revenge, but at a great price.

A flower seller at a local station, Christine, whiles away the day with her colleague Anni, both dreaming of finding their true love. Christine encounters and falls for a painter, Albrecht, but is already engaged to the accountant, Krummholz. Completed in 1944, a year before Brief Encounter, but suppressed by the Nazi authorities until after the war, Der verzauberte Tag stands out as a romantic masterpiece in an era of conformist German cinema.

Vera Meiners once was a doctor in a Swiss clinic. She was married to Jan and had a little girl, Brigitte. Her life was sweet. Unfortunately for her, it was not to last.
