In the film, Breamer's character, Miriam Holt ("the girl who sees around corners"), proves her psychic powers by locating children who went missing during the war. Her childhood love Clyde Brunton (Conrad Nagel) is unhappily married to a social climber, but Miriam's ability to commune with the spirits of the dead ("those we love are always with us") finds a way to resolve the problem.

Mike Farrell, the son of a Spanish don, comes home from his army service in Siberia to discover that his father is dead and his ranch, Palomar, is in the hands of John Parker. While Parker is maneuvering to turn Palomar over to Okada, a Japanese potato baron who desires the land for a colonization scheme, Mike falls in love with Kay Parker. After Mike is attacked and seriously wounded by Okada, Kay nurses him to health and their love grows.

Nance Pelot is bravely trying to support herself and her father Joe, the town drunk, by playing piano in an unsavory roadside inn owned by Larry Shayne. Chet Todd, the son of a shop owner, is in love with Nance, but her reputation has been sullied by her profession, and so Chet's mother disapproves of her. Nance inherits a small farm from her mother, and when Shayne discovers that the property is valuable, he plots to cheat Nance out of her inheritance.

Dr. John Brandon, who cares for charity patients in the slums, is thrown together with writer Norma Ashley when her car strikes a boy whom Brandon treats. Under Norma's influence, and against the wishes of his friend Father Farrell, Brandon leaves the slums and becomes the partner of Dr. Thurston, who, unknown to Brandon, is Norma's fiance. Now prosperous, Brandon flies into a rage when he hears Thurston and Norma ridiculing him.

Universal star Laura LaPlante stars in this lighthearted comedy based on Sophie Kerr’s magazine story, Relative Values. Octavia Lowden has virtually become a drudge in order to support her sponging relatives – flapper sister Eloise, hypochondriac Aunt Minnie, and storytelling Uncle Eph. Only Octavia’s frail grandmother really needs help. When Octavia’s sweetheart, photographer Pritchett Spence, discovers the toll these bloodsuckers are exacting, he plots with the family doctor to rescue her.

Miss Devore plays Tommy, a young woman who runs a boarding house for her father, an inventor of eccentric devices, and the boarders are the usual collection of neurotics in such an effort.
