John Armstrong

John Grant is a young teacher. At the start of school holidays, he plans to travel to Sydney to visit his girlfriend. To do so, Grant must first journey to the nearby mining town of Bundanyabba (known as "The Yabba") to catch his flight. At the Yabba, Grant meets several locals, including a policeman, Jock, who encourages him to drink beer non-stop, and introduces Grant to Two-up. At first, Grant has a winning streak, but then loses all his money, and finds himself unable to leave the Yabba.
