Rancher Jess Bailey, accompanied by his daughter Virginia, comes east to get his eastern-business partner John Larrigan to advance him more money to keep their rustler-plagued ranch afloat, and Craig and Virginia strike up a romance, which is going nowhere fast because of his elitist attitude. A young Texan known as "Hurricane Hal," saves Bill Adams from Mexican bandits. In gratitude, Adams gives Hal a job on his ranch, where Hal antagonizes Lacey, the foreman, and falls in love with Virginia McFarland, the daughter of Adams' partner. McFarland and Adams decide to transport a large shipment of money in a buckboard driven by Lacey and accompanied by McFarland and Virginia. Lacey, who has been stealing cattle, arranges with his men to hold up the party.
