When Unnikrishnan (Jayaram), although highly educated, finds it difficult to get a teaching job, he applies for the job of a private detective with a firm called Secret Files. As a trainee, he is asked to find out the details of Arundathi Nair (Rohini), the daughter of a rich businessman Ananthapadmanabhan (Sukumaran), as part of a marriage proposal investigation. Little did he know that two other trainees are also on the case - Oomen Koshy (Jagathy Sreekumar) & Premshankar (Manian Pillai Raju).
Medical Representative Mathew Ninan Koshy (Mukesh), a self-proclaimed playboy enters into a bet with his three roommates, Bank Cashier Pavithran (Siddique), Tutorial College Lecturer Murthy (Manian Pillai Raju) & Ravi (Suresh Gopi) who runs an exporting company called Falcon Exporters, wherein each of them would point out a girl to Mathew, whom he would woo in a month's time. Mathew sets out to fulfill his bet, with hilarious & disastrous results.
Kunjukuttiyamma (Lakshmi), the grand old lady of the Kannettumkara family, have three daughters, all of whom have plans to snare Kochukrishnan (Mukesh), her only grandson, for their own daughters, and thus lay their hands on her vast assets. Kochukrishnan & his friend Harindran (Siddique) hatch various plans to escape this, but to no avail. In between this, a girl named Gopika (Sowmya) shows up claiming to be Kunjukuttiyamma's grandchild & her son Ambotti's (Nedumudi Venu) illegitimate daughter.
Arjunan Pillai (Innocent), who was partial to his son Ajayan (Baiju) over his 4 daughters, marries off his 3 daughters Jayalakshmi (Bindu Panikkar), Jayaprabha (Kalpana) & Jayasree (Charmila) to a cook, Sudhakaran (Jagathi), a municipal exterminator, Thangakuttan (Harisree Asokan) & an auto rickshaw driver Uthaman (Jagadish), & his son to a rich girl. However, upsetting his plans, when Ajayan cheats Arjunan Pillai out of his ancestral home, & leaves him broke, his son-in-laws come to his rescue.
After his son dies in a hospital, a nomad from Kabul ("Kabooliwala") (Nedumudi) kidnaps the doctor Sethu's (M.G. Soman) son Unni, & disappears. 20 years later, Sethu & his family finds Unni, but he now lives as "Munna", part of a nomadic group of circus performers & is in love with Laila (Charmila), the owner of the circus. Munna is torn between the two families, & tries to reunite with Laila, with the help of two homeless litter-gatherers - Kannas (Innocent) & Kadalaas (Jagathi Sreekumar).
After the eccentric & genius filmmaker Siddharthan (Mohanlal) dies in mysterious circumstances, his son Aadi (Anoop Menon), returns years later from California to relive the memories of his father. After meeting with a few of Siddarthan's old friends, Aadi becomes convinced that his dad was killed, & that it was not a suicide as he had originally thought. Aadi sets out to unravel the mystery that was his father & to seek out his killer.
Ashwathy (Suchitra) & Mary are co-workers at 'New India Chemicals', but hate each others' guts & are always fighting with each other at work. Aswathy & her husband Dr. Balakrishnan aka Balu (Siddique) move to a new rental home, only to find that their neighbor is Mary. Mary's husband Zakaria (Jagadish) turns out to be Balu's old pal. Zakaria & Balu decides to reconcile their wives' differences, but soon they are also drawn into the conflict, with disastrous results for both families.
Diwakaran (Jagadish), a medical sales rep, is also a thief, unbeknown to everyone but his pal Chaandy (Kalabhavan Mani). Mistaking retired school teacher Aravindakshan (Premachandran) for a politician, Diwakaran steals jewelry from him, which Aravindakshan had intended for his daughter's marriage. The cop investigating the case, Jayashankar (Vijayaraghavan), becomes Diwakaran's brother-in-law, to the latter's shock. Jayashankar then brings a proposal for Diwakaran - Aravindakshan's daughter!
Although married to Leelavathi (Kalpana), Arunuchalam aka Arun (Ramesh Aravind) embarks on a love affair with the much younger, unmarried & pretty Priya (Heera Rajgopal). During a trip to Bangalore, he runs into an old friend, Dr. Shaktivel (Kamal Hassan), to whom he is forced to reveal his illicit affair, & who promises to keep it a secret. However, a video taken by Shaktivel's son gives away the secret to Leelavathi. Forcing Arun out of the house, she vows to end his relationship with Priya.
Adi (Madhavan) & Ganga(Jyothika) are the unhappy groom & bride forced into a marriage. Adi is loath to give up his life of wine & women in the city while Ganga is unwilling because she wants to pursue an Engineering degree. The twosome draw up a few plans to stop the wedding but they fizzle out. Just when they begin to think that their being together may not be too bad an idea after all, a misunderstanding stops the wedding. Their feelings are fortified when they run into each other in the city.
Yamuna Prasad (Rajan P. Dev), one part of the popular music director duo Yamuna Prasad-Ganga Prasad, who were working as the judges of reality show Singer Star, goes missing, & days later, his severed arm turns up in a dumpster. CI Wahid Abdul Rahman Haji (Kalabhavan Mani) takes up the case & arrests sanyasi Parashuram Bhattathiri (Suresh Gopi), who was staying in the same hotel as Yamuna Prasad, in the process. An irked Bhattathiri challenges Wahid that he will solve the case before him.
Middle-aged single millionaire John Fernandes (Thilakan) comes for vacation to Ooty, from USA. There, he befriends cabby Unni (Dileep) & lensman Mustafa (Kalabhavan Mani), who promise to find John a girl to marry. John sees Maya (Mohini), a village girl, whose brother-in-law Kaliappan (Meghanadhan), was after her to make her his second wife. John offers a cash reward to Unni & Mustafa & they save Maya from Kaliappan for John, but things get complicated when Unni & Maya end up falling in love.
At Manikyasseri Kovilakam, pregnant maid Ganga (Mayuri) gets burned alive by the patriarch after his son Devan (Madhupal) falls in love with her, but Ganga's spirit returns & kills him. The great sorcerer Meppaadan (Rajan P. Dev) exorcises the spirit & traps it in a tree. Years later, a college girl Daisy (Divya Unni), unleashes the spirit by mistake, which possesses her & seeks revenge at the males of Manikyasseri. Daisy befriends Unni (Riyaz) of Manikyasseri & makes him fall in love with her.
Prince (Mohanlal), wanton son of industrialist Bharathan Menon (K.P. Ummer) settled in Bangalore, gets stuck with a girl Anju (Aishwarya), after Prince & pal Vettikkal Sadashivan (Jagadish) kidnaps her mistaking her for someone else. Anju was actually in town to commit suicide on the same day & time her father Devan Nambiar (Nasser), a death row prisoner, was to be executed. After learning her story, Prince starts to take care of Anju & tries to get her father's death sentence commuted.
Brahmin sisters Allu (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) & Komalam (Kalpana) are married to Ganapathi Pai (Innocent) & Ananda Pai (Jagathi), who run the family-owned business as the "Pai Brothers". Frustrated by their stinginess & sternness at work, manager Kesavan Nair (Janardanan) & his Mumbai-based mobster son Thrivikraman (Baiju) plot to turn them against each other & steal company cash. They plant an accomplice, sultry Mohini (Alphonsa), as the brothers' new steno, who starts to manipulate the Pai brothers.
Josekutty (Sudheesh), an orphan, slips into the world of crime after teaming up with petty thief Mayyanad Madhavan (Sreenivasan), but is arrested & jailed. After his release, in a heist gone wrong, he kills a security guard, for which Madhavan accepts the blame & goes to jail. Josekutty, who was trying in vain to get himself jailed, helps an old lady in distress, Rachael Mathew (Srividya), thereby becoming a member of her household & gets close to Rachael's adopted daughter Elsa (Monisha).

However, when he learns that there was nothing between Ganga & Aravindan, he tries to get rid of Ganga, causing chaos in his family & Ganga's.

Dev) had been lifelong friends, but when it came to keeping his word about marrying off his town-educated daughter Sunanda (Kaveri) to Pappu's son Chakrapani (Jagadish), Gunasekaran reneges on his word, causing an angry Pappu to ask Chakrapani to woo Sunanda, by hook or crook. An equally agitated Gunasekaran tries to twart Chakrapani's efforts, but soon the rivalry turns into a communal issue, because of their caste differences.

With the cops, & the goons who want Maya, after them, the trio, along with Maya, goes into hiding.
N. D. Raman Nair aka NDR (Innocent), a rich businessman who used to rule over his 2 sons - Ramanan (Asokan) & Rameshan (Dilip) - with an iron fist, gets a raw deal when his daughter-in-laws fight with each other & his sons turn henpecked. To regain control over his household, NDR brings in an actress, Parvathi (Kalpana), to act as his wife & discipline his sons & daughter-in-laws. NDR's plans backfire, however, when Parvathi gets impregnated by someone in the household & he is held responsible.
Unnikannan Nair (Nedumudi Venu), Panchayath president of the remote village of Pokkanamkodu, after getting cornered on his failure to bring a vet to the village, by the opposition party of the Panchayath headed by Ulpalakshan (Pappu), asks his aide Kurup (Paravoor Bharathan) to get one. At Kurup's behest, Bhairavan (Innocent), a conman, comes to the village posing as vet 'Pasupathy'. Later, impressed by Pasupathy, Unnikannan Nair plans to marry off his daughter Ammukutty (Parvathi) to him.
A statue named 'Junior Mandrake', said to be possessed with an evil spirit & which brought bad luck & misfortune to whoever possessed it, finally ends up in the hands of driver Omanakuttan (Jagathi Sreekumar), who gets fired from his job soon after owning it. However, Omanakuttan finds precious stones inside the statue & becomes rich. But now, the real owner of the statue, a criminal & the statue's namesake, wants the statue back & hunts down all the folks who ever owned it.
Vijay Bhaskar (Mammootty), a well-off builder who lived separated from his wife & who tried to keep his kids Sudhi & Anu away from her, gets into a predicament when a stranger, Hema (Priya Raman), forcibly dons the role of the kids' mother, while they were in Bangalore for a short stay. The kids who had always been on the search for their mom, assumes Hema to be her & doesn't let go, forcing Vijay to play along. Vijay enters into a pact with Hema to continue the act till their stay was over.
Petty thief Charls (Dileep), with pal Shobharaj (Jagathi Sreekumar) backing him up, agrees to woo millionaire Paulose's (Cochin Hanifa) daughter Anna & make her drop her plans of becoming a nun, to raise money for his mentally wrecked sister's surgery. By mistake, Charls woos the wrong girl (Suvalakshmi) & gets her out of the seminary. Once outside, Charls initially tries to give Anna the slip, but when he learns that her step-brother Bijoy (Shiju) & his cronies wanted her dead, sticks with her.
Lineman Sivankutty (Mukesh) falls in love with Parvathi (Annie), but her headstrong mother Subadra (Zeenath) opposes the relationship, citing the reason that her own husband, who used to be a lineman, had dumped her. Shortly afterwards, Subadra's husband Naryanankutty (Janardanan) returns after 18 years & fixes Parvathi's marriage to a junior engineer, while Subadra gives her word to give Parvathi to Aniyan Thampuran, the rich debauchee of the famed Illickal family, complicating things further.
Impoverished & jobless young men, Unnikrishnan (Jagadish) & Dasan (Baiju), frees a friendly spirit Chathunni (Innocent) from capture by mistake, who becomes their friend. With Chathunni's help, Unnikrishnan gets back at his evil step-mother Pankajam (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) & tries to win his girlfriend Maya (Mathu), whose father cop Rajagopal (K.P.A.C. Sunny), planned to marry her off to a family friend's son, Vikraman (Shammi Thilakan).
Bharathan (Babu Antony), after his gangster father Vettukadan's (Narendra Prasad) death, returns to Chathan Colony where he is forced to step into his father's shoes & become a gangster himself. With Najeeb away in Dubai for work & Zakir's own sister Celina's (Mamtha Mohandas) wedding around the corner, Zakir tries to hide Sugandhi till Najeeb got back, with disastrous results.

At this juncture, Christy's lookalike, mute Satya (Prithviraj), shows up & saves Sandra from a mishap, & gradually they fall for each other.

Durgadathan (Babu Antony) returns to his birth place, from where he & his mother Kannamma (Srividya) were driven away years ago. There, at the Poomangalam palace, he meets Bharatha Varma (M.G. Soman) & his adopted daughter Gayathri (Charmila), who were living there like servants after being cheated out of all their riches by Varma's brother-in-law Rajadeva Varma (N.F. Varghese). Durgadathan gets protective towards Gayathri & later also learns that he is Bharatha Varma's illegitimate son.
Venugopalakrishnan aka Venu (Mukesh), a young man, is forced to don the disguise of a 60-year old retired colonel after he is falsely accused of kidnapping heiress Gopika Varma (Madhoo) & mistaken to be a criminal gang leader. In his disguise as colonel R.K. Nair, he gets close to Gopika with the intention of clearing Venu's name, but Gopika sees through the disguise eventually, & although she doesn't get angry about it, decides to turn the tables on him.
Raghavan (Jagathi Sreekumar), an auto rickshaw driver, takes pity on elderly couple Narayanan Nair (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) & Bhageerathi (T.R. Omana), who were neglected by their grown-up children, takes them under his wing & cares for them. However, when Nair gets a real estate windfall, his children show up feigning love & take Nair & his wife away. Raghavan, meanwhile gets branded a kidnapper by Nair's children & gets beset with misfortunes.
In the backward hamlet of Airavatakkuzhi, henpecked Panchayat president Dushasana Kurup (Gopi) & his clique of corrupt Panchayat members look to raise Kurup's fame by attaching his name to a new bridge, even if that meant destroying the current, perfectly functional bridge. Spreading the rumor that the current bridge is weak, they procure the permission to demolish it & a farce of mammoth proportions ensue in the effort for the new bridge, with everybody in the game seeking personal gains.
Miffed at losing a coveted promotion as the area branch manager of Dixi Cola, assistant manager Suresh Kumar (Mukesh) gets drunk with his pals Philipose (Siddique) & Immanuel (Sainuddin), & writes a threatening letter to Suresh's boss Somashekaran Nair (Innocent). However, when it turned out that Suresh was indeed getting that job, they try desperately to get the letter back. To worsen things, Nair gets killed & the letter lands in the hands of the cops, making Suresh & pals the prime suspects.
Pavan (Dileep) & his father Krishnankutty Menon (Nedumudi Venu) were more of friends than father & son, & when Pavan learns of Menon's old flame Sridevi (Jayasudha), with whom Menon had to part ways as a young adult, he teams up with his friend & love interest Anjana (Navya Nair), to unite them. But the idea of an aging Menon marrying doesn't bode well with Anjana's conservative father Gokul Das (Balachandra Menon), & he threatens to separate Pavan & Anjana if Pavan goes through with the plan.
Unni (Mukesh), Rajendran (Siddique) & Salim (Sainuddin) were 3 friends who were enjoying the fun of bachelorhood & into their lives walked in Indu (Radha), their new coworker. Unni & Indu fall in love & get married, unbeknownst to their parents, but their plans of living together falls apart when Unni's parents come to visit, with the intention of getting Unni married to his eccentric cousin Minikutty (Kalpana).
Reghuram (Prithviraj), a convict escaping parole, hides out in a remote village with two of his friends, where he falls in love with village belle Thatha (Navya Nair). However, Thatha's hot-tempered elder brother would have none of it, & comes between them. Meanwhile, the cops get hot on Reghuram's trail, complicating matters.
Middle aged Kalidasan (Lal), an archaeologist & a foodie, lives a bachelor life with his companion & cook Babu (Baburaj). His nephew Manu Raghav (Asif Ali) comes to his place in search of a job. Kalidasan's boring life gets a new twist when a wrong call from Maya (Shweta Menon), a spinster, develops into a deep bond. However, when it was time for a meeting, Kalidasan & Maya both develop cold feet. Kalidasan sends Manu, pretending to be him & Maya sends her much younger pal Meenakshi (Mythili).
First cousins Thomaskutty (Mukesh) & Josephkutty (Suraaj Venjarammoodu), popularly known to everyone as "Pachu" & "Kovalan", makes a TV serial which becomes a big hit, but Pachu's father-in-law & the producer of the serial, Esthappan (Jagathi Sreekumar), is shot dead in a mishap on the set, & Thomaskutty & Josephkutty are suspected by the cops. Thomaskutty tries to continue the shoot in an effort to prove his innocence.
An Italian painter, Lorenzo Fabri (Vincenzo Bocciarelli), is invited as a guest by the Kerala government to recreate a famous painting of Raja Ravi Varma, to replace the original which was stolen from the royal palace. In Kerala, Fabri runs across his ex-flame Shilpa (Mamta Mohandas), with whom he was in love an year ago. They reunite, but Shilpa's cousin Sreekuttan (Manoj K. Jayan) doesn't take too kindly to this. In revenge, Sreekuttan feigns love towards Fabri's sister Anna Lisa.
Sharada Nair (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) returns to Kerala from the US a rich woman & seeks an alliance for her son Devakumar (Premkumar). Competing for the hefty commission were matchers Thresia (Kalpana) & C.M. Sugunan (Jagathi Sreekumar). Meanwhile, Devakumar turns down all alliances, & courts his cousin Sreedevi (Chandini), much to the chagrin of Sharada, who had a bitter history with Sreedevi's father Govinda Menon (Janardanan), who was Sharada's elder brother.
Frustrated by the intransigence of the honest Home Minister of Kerala, Venugopal (Jagathi Sreekumar), a criminal gang replaces Venugopal with a lookalike - a loudmouth dancer with a weakness for wine & women, Manikantan (Jagathi Sreekumar), to help them steal space technology from the government. While Manikantan stumbles through a series of follies in his newfound job, the real minister who escapes the gang's murder attempt, suffers away in a mental asylum.
Sankaran Nambiar (Jayasurya) dies on the day after his marriage due to snakebite, leaving a bereaved family behind. As his younger brother Mohanan (Jayasurya) tries to move on with life, he starts getting visions of Sankaran, trying to convince Mohanan that he hasn't died. Soon the visions become more frequent, & when Rajalakshmi (Meera Nandan), Sankaran's widow, decides to remarry, Sankaran's ghost urges Mohanan to stop the marriage, resulting in a series of attempts by Mohanan to foil it.
Genius inventor Bharathan (Biju Menon) discovers a way to levitate objects using the power of nature, but starts to suffer amnesia about it soon after. As the scientists of the world look on, famed neuropsychiatrist G.R. Pandal (Suresh Gopi) is brought in from London to cure Bharathan. Pandal proposes a treatment, but which had the possible side effect of Bharathan forgetting his wife Geetha (Geethu Mohandas) completely. Initially opposed to the idea, Geetha is finally persuaded by Pandal.
Sreedevi (Parvathi) & Shiny (Urvashi), who used to be friends in college, meet again as neighbors when Shiny & her husband Roy (Mukesh) move in as tenants into the ground floor of the same house Sreedevi & her husband Rajmohan (Saikumar) lived in. Roy & Rajmohan too become best friends, but soon their collective friendship is ruined when Roy starts to pay heed to rumors from others that Shiny was having an affair with Rajmohan, & Rajmohan starts to suspect the same between Sreedevi & Roy.
Koodiyattam artist Aravinda Chakyar (Jayaram) finally meets his dream girl in Ashwathy, a Nangyar Koothu artist, but their weddings get disrupted at the last minute due to various reasons, the latest being a photo linking Chakyar to Hemalatha (Radhika), a member of Chakyar's wedding party. Unbeknownst to all, Hemalatha is actually Sridevi & hides a deadly secret - a bomb she is being forced to carry by a group of terrorists, by holding her father, Police Commissioner Rajasekaran, as a hostage.
After a late-realization that he is an alcoholic, TV celebrity Raghunandan (Mohanlal) decides to fight his alcoholism, which had once wrecked his marriage. After turning sober, Raghunandan, through his show 'Show D' Spirit' exposes the societal effects of chronic alcoholism in Kerala by following the life of a chronic alcoholic, a plumber by the name of Maniyan (Nandu).
Anoop Krishnan (Jayasurya), an uppity fashion-conscious youngster who wanted to do an MBA & land a cushy job, gets sent by his mother against his will to teach at a rural government school. Unhappy at the job, Anoop constantly broke the school etiquette & finally walks off, but after being reminded about his father who was a great teacher, turns over a new leaf. Anoop returns to the school which was on the verge of shutting down, & turns it around with his hard work & innovation.

Nandan never sees the letter & they eventually get married. Athira later warms up to Nandan & they have a happy life, till Nandan stumbles upon that unopened letter, which sows seeds of mistrust in him & destroys their marriage.
Outspoken Achutha Kurup (Jagathi Sreekumar) is the oldest patriarch of the Mankoyikkal family, but who is now persona non grata within his extended family, as each family tries to get rid of him as he takes turns visiting them.
