Veronica Sawyer is a popular high school student who is part of the Heathers, a clique of three beautiful and ruthless girls. When Veronica meets Jason "J.D." Dean, a new student who is also a sociopath, they team up to murder the Heathers and make it look like suicides. An experimental gun powered by an atomic reactor is misplaced when the transport carrying it crashes into a river.
