A teenager, Pappu (Krishnachandran), falls in love with his neighbor and family friend, an older woman Rathi (Jayabharati) & begins to obsess with her.

Jayan (Mohanlal) veers away from his path of crime after seeing the plight of a poor boy, Unni (Kamal Roy), struggling to support his studies. Jayan befriends the group of college students of which Unni was a part of & tries to relive his lost youth. He also finds his long lost mother-like figure from his childhood, Janakiamma (Sukumari) & her daughter Nirmala (Menaka). However, when Nirmala's marriage life was to be threatened by his old associates, Jayan has to return to his old ways again.

Mary Hans (Seema) falls in love with a sailor Stanley Green (Mohan Sharma) & they plan to marry, but after learning that it was Stanley's sister Evelyn (Sreeletha Namboothiri), who drove her daddy to commit suicide & that Stanley was already a father to a girl, Mary drifts away from Stanley. Mary is raped by a stranger (Jayan), but she feels attached to him, even after learning that he was a brute. Pregnant with his child, Mary confesses her love for him, but is snubbed by the stranger.

Brahmin girl & art student Gayatri (Ann Augustine) falls for eccentric college-mate Michael Agnelo (Fahadh Faasil), & they both drop out & start living together. After the initial euphoria settles, Gayatri finds Michael to be very self-centered & hot-tempered & that he expects her to support him so that he could paint. Then an accident leaves Michael blind, adding to Gayatri's woes. At this juncture, Michael decides to create his magnum opus, & Gayatri struggles to keep up with the expenses.
Ee Nadu
A clique of politicians, cops & the rich - MLA Venu (Ratheesh), minister (Prathapachandran) & rich liquor contractor Karunakaran (T.G. Ravi) - exploits the commoners of a town, including allowing a factory to pollute its waters & selling illicit liquor. Krishna Pillai (Balan K. Nair), an upright communist activist, who also happened to be Venu's uncle, protests the atrocities. He is joined by Salim (Mammootty), a Gulf-returnee, who returns to Kerala after losing his job in Dubai.
