Cunégonde aime son maître (1911) - Short Film
A married couple is employing the pretty Anna as their domestic servant, but the wife does not like her because her husband loves her too much. The wife decides to hire an ugly servant (Cunegonde) instead. However, Cunégonde falls in love with the husband and becomes so clumsy that she is sent away again.
When the husband of Cunégonde dresses up and goes out by himself, he is chased by his jealous wife. However, when he goes into a restaurant, she cannot follow him inside because of her clothes.
Cunégonde always watches her neighbors, so one of them tinkers with the shutters in front of her window. When Cunégonde peeks curiously through the shutters again, she gets stuck with her head. Eventually she is released but she is cured of her curiosity
The mistress of Cunégonde is going out, and Cunégonde puts on her clothes. When she goes out into the street, she encounters an instantly enamoured gentleman who takes her to his house. However, when the man is about to declare his love the actual owner of the house barges in. Cunegonde's gentleman turns out to be just a regular servant and Cunégonde walks away annoyed.
The husband of Cunegonde receives a letter in which his resignation is threatened if he does not immediately resume his job as a coachman. As he is injured and not yet fit for work, Cunegonde decides to do his job for him.
Cunégonde's husband is trying to leave his wife, but Cunégonde does not want to let him go. She catches him with a lasso and hides herself in the chest he has packed with his belongings. Eventually she can not prevent him from getting out.
Whilst the master of the house is away, the maid gets a visit from her family. Together, they attack her employer's bourgeois residence with ardent zeal and rustic technology.The biographical details of this French actress, even her name, remain unknown. She was active in film from 1911 to 1913. Her series at Lux Productions covered 24 titles, of which 20 were shot in 1912.
Cunegonde reads a piece about spiritism in the newspaper and wants try it. This is seen by the street kids who decide to help Cunegonde a hand. Cunegonde goes to Professor Geestkijker to learn the tricks and in the meantime the children slip into her house, where they hide everywhere. They give Cunegonde such a fright that she quickly provides the spirits with sweets.
