In a wind-swept rural outpost, an aging cabman and his daughter attempt to survive amidst harsh environmental degradation and dwindling resources. Bound to an increasingly uncooperative horse and a grueling daily routine, they quietly endure the repetitive burdens of existence as the world around them gradually decays into total darkness.

On a desolate, decaying collective farm in late-communist Hungary, a group of hopeless villagers struggles to survive. When rumors spread that Irimias, a charismatic acquaintance long presumed dead, has returned, the desperate residents mistakenly place their faith in his promises of salvation, blissfully unaware of his manipulative intentions and dark motives.

Karrer, a depressed and hopeless man living in a dreary Hungarian mining town, spends his days wandering through gray landscapes and drinking at the local bar. Infatuated with a married lounge singer, he conspires to send her husband away on a smuggling job to pursue her. However, his desperate quest for affection only leads to betrayal, loneliness, and further spiritual decay.
