Andy is not 100% in favor of this change in his plans and tries every way he knows to avoid the picnic plan. Millionaire Sam Winston is an unhappy man. His wife Constance lives a gay life, devoting all her time to parties; his daughter Gloria is in one scandal after another, changing husbands as often as her moods, and son Jerry spends his time getting drunk and chasing women. Sam hires gangster Johnny April to bump him off but Johnny, liking the old man, defers the killing and sets about making the family appreciate Sam.

A priest relates the tale of his friend, a WWI veteran, to the Post-War Planning Committee. Unable to get a job upon his return from the war, he puts off his marriage and works for a bootlegger. He is forced to take a rap for his boss, goes to prison, and forms a gang.

Two radio comics go to Desert Springs, one to get away from his jealous wife and the other to escape the attentions of a comedienne. The body of an agent is found in their room and later disappears. After some sleuthing by the actors and some other detectives, changed just enough from well-known fiction-and-movie detectives to keep from being sued, it is discovered that the agent was not killed, but his body had been concealed by his doctor.

Jack Carroll and his wife have a phony argument to teach their friends a lesson, but when he makes a crack that her mother is a "fat porpoise," they fight for real and she leaves him. To make matters worse, Jack runs into two men just before they don masks and rob a bank. Now he is the only one who can identify them. In spite of all this, he takes a vacation in Reno; he is convinced he can use a metal detector to find buried treasure and realize his dream of starting a rabbit farm.

He invites his boss and his wife for dinner, which, he hopes, will lead to a pay-raise for him. A loud, practical-joking friend shows up, with his flashy, redheaded girlfriend, and Hugh ends up in hot water and his boss fires him. He is rehired as a partner, however, when the friend places a large order with Hugh.

A beautiful blonde has just stolen a necklace and is being pursued by the police. She plants the necklace on an unsuspecting Hugh, intending to come back for it after she has eluded the cops.

Beatrice De Vere (Daphne Pollard), a wealthy eccentric, owns a fabulous diamond that is coveted by others. Thusly begins a slapstick farce that involves two dumb New York , with cockney accents, a menacing butler who also tells fortunes, and a gorilla who drives a motorcycle and pilots an airplane.
