Sanne, a dutch women living in Tuscany (Italy) with her parents, runs an estate where they welcome guests to celebrate their dream wedding. Her own lovelife is rather inexistent until Jeroen comes along.

Levenslied follows the lives of the various members of a choir in Haarlem. Every Thursday evening they sing all their worries away. The series tells a mosaic of stories about ordinary people: a young welfare mother, a hardworking lawyer, an ambitious real estate agent or a Dutch teacher at a school community.

Merel, a single midwife, is done with men, but her biological clock is ticking inexorably. And yes, she gets pregnant. However, the whole family suddenly seems pregnant. Her 60-plus father Piet has just become father again with his young partner and her 23-year-old niece Eva is also expecting. Annet, Merel's older sister, who suffers from the empty nest syndrome, has a husband Theo who only wants to travel because he think is to young to become a grandfather.

Xandra lives a safe life with her husband and daughter in Amsterdam. But Xandra aches for more excitement in her life. She is tempted to once again become involved with her old life when she's secretly offered a challenge.
