While we are not forced to watch the mustachioed Linder in drag, there are some nice gags here as Max manages to get his chauffeur blamed for everything, including an abduction of the girl.

This time it is he who succumbs to the fascinating hair, falling in love with a "bearded lady" at a fair. Her charms move him so greatly that he is induced to join the troupe with whom he is to play the part of performing bear, doing antic gambles clad in a bearskin. Whilst he is caressing the beard, however, it comes off in his hand, and he perceives that it is an imposture. Disillusioned and filled with grief he rushes from the scene, still wearing the skin, and causes panic wherever he goes.

Trop aimée (1910) - Short Film
The versatile Max Linder heads a novel chase in this film, the pursuers being three dogs, the pets of the comedian's fiancée. Max was dreadfully afraid of dogs anyhow, and of these dogs in particular, because they were jealous when their mistress caressed Max. On the wedding day he had them locked up, but they escaped and ran to the parlor, where the ceremony was in progress.
Le pendu (1906) - Short Film
This is a travesty on the "red tape" of the French police service; at least the characters seem French and the uniforms worn are of that nation. A young man disappointed in love wanders to the woods, where he hangs himself to the limb of a tree. A boy discovering him, runs in alarm to tell the gardener, who is conveniently at hand; the gardener views the death struggles, but, although having a scythe in his hand, dares not cut the rope without the presence of an officer and hurries after one.
Amoureux de la teinturière (1912) - Short Film
Max is in love with a pretty girl, and one evening pays a stolen visit to his sweetheart's, whose father, a successful dyer, has to leave by a late train for the provinces. Arrayed in a pale gray frock-coat, Max meets his sweetheart's father on the threshold of his front door. The meeting is not to Max's liking, although he is unknown to the dyer. He makes a dash for it, but the dyer sees his gray form disappearing up the staircase, and returns to his flat.
Max manque un riche mariage (1910) - Short Film
Max is about to make his first call upon a young lady, the daughter of distinguished parents, and he wants to make a good impression. As he dresses to go out he stoops over to fix his shoe and, horrors! He tears his trousers. Where? Well, in a most embarrassing place. He fixes them hurriedly, trusting to have his coat tails cover it, but alas, the coat is too short for this purpose.
