Menelaos Daflos

After the end of the Greek Civil War, two guerilla fighters try to go back home, having to face the National Army who wants to clear all remains of the Greek People's Liberation Army (ELAS). None of them will succeed in it, but the fiancee of the one will give birth to his son, who will participate in the Athens Polytechinic Uprising against the military junta in 1973.

Angelo, keeps his sexual identity a secret from his family. He falls for a rough sailor, Mikhalis, and moves in with him. Mikhalis convinces Angelo to dress in drag and work a corner with other transvestites. With the money, Mikhalis buys a fancy motorcycle and hangs out in bars. By day, Angelo is in the army; at night, he whores. At Christmas, he visits his grandmother, and we learn that she and his mother were also prostitutes. A crisis ensues when neighborhood men beat up Angelo . . . (imdb)

Eurydice is a singer in a group that plays in country fairs. She gets convinced by a rich farmer to follow him to Athens, where he promises her that he will make her a famous singer. Things do not turn out as promised, and Eurydice returns to the band, which is very successful now, due to Orpheus, a mute clarinet player, who has joined them. The farmer comes to reclaim her by force and Eurydice gets killed in a car accident. Orpheus tries to give her life with his clarinet.

Leonidas, a family man retires from the public sector. He goes on vacation alone, as usually. There he meets the wife of a friend of his, who lives in Switzerland. They become emotionally involved, but Christina goes back to her husband. He follows her, but soon decides to come back to Athens. Christina after a while comes to Athens, seeking their reunion. While Leonidas initially clashes with his family for her, in the end he compromises and decides that the dream is not for him.

Three old friends meet again in Athens. After years of hardship, they wish to live and easier life and set up a business, but find out that no matter what they do, their situation remains just as precarious.
