A student at the Police Academy is tasked to study a cold case: the murder of a pregnant woman on a Swedish beach 25 years ago.

Vera is a woman that is passing through a bad moment in her life. Due to the loss of her job and wanting to start a new life away from his cheating husband she responds to a job offer in Ängelby. On her way with her kids, she runs over a boy but hides the body and runs from the crime scene.

Vera is trying to figure out how to relate to her son's irresponsible father, while her sister is about to release a book about their shared childhood. Not far from Vera, a professional clown is hesitantly trying to get on with his life and form a new relationship, but his ex is refusing to let go of him. When their former attraction is rekindled on one occasion, the situation gets more intense. (imdb)
