Oskar is a television weatherman. Like many fortysomethings, he tries to ward off his midlife crisis and his increasingly dissatisfying marriage with a steady stream of affairs. When he manipulates a weather report for the sake of flirting, the repercussions arequick to follow: Oskar finds himself jobless and wifeless. His carefree bachelor lifestyle interlaced with lovers of varying ages is not, however, idylilic.

A disparate bunch of Czech vacationers are thrown together on a one-week package bus holiday to an Adriatic seaside resort. The strange ensemble of characters is led by a plain looking yet witty woman who is taking her ornery middle-aged parents on holiday. Also along for the trip are a minor pop star, a gay couple, a pair of teenage sexpots, a homophobic mom and dad and their two kids, and a sci-fi obsessed diving enthusiast who gets turned on by women swimming underwater. While travelling by subway to her job at an upscale women's magazine, 23-year-old Laura discovers that in place of some advertising billboards on her train are passionate love letters to an unnamed woman signed by someone named Oliver. She later confesses to her hairdresser friends that the missives are intended for her. Two ostensibly ordinary middle-aged couples, Marie and Vitek, and Dita and Ondra, are linked by more than just a lifelong friendship, a shared house in a small town and same-aged adolescent children: they are linked by love.
