'Vedi Vazhipadu' depicts the events in a time frame of 24 hours on the Pongala festival day at the Attukal Temple. 3 friends, bank cashier Sanjay (Saiju Kurup), investor Pradeep (Sreejith Ravi) & video game tester Rahul (Murali Gopy), have made secret plans for the day when their wives will be away at the festival. On the said day, the friends gather in Rahul's apartment. They have booze & a prostitute, Sumithra (Anumol), & plan to enjoy themselves. However, things don't go as planned.

ACP Pouran (Prithviraj), who had been itching to prove himself in the police force, implicates 2 street performers - Jumper Thampi (Baburaj) & Cross-belt Mani (Vinod Chemban) - after mistaking Thampi for the international terrorist Khalid Qureshi (Baburaj). They get the death sentence, but when Pouran learns that they are innocent, he tries to save them, but soon learns that the political machinery has no interest in freeing them.

3 people who were previously strangers - Sreelal (Jayasurya), Bahadhoor (Nedumudi Venu) & Dharmajan Shasthri (Aju Varghese) before their trip to Kochi one day, become friends & search for Sreelal's lost lottery ticket after it wins the first prize of Rs. 1 crore.
