Leon's boss and his wife aren't getting along together, so Leon asks them to visit his home and observe how he and Mrs. Errol manage to keep the old knot tied. Before the couple arrives, Leon manages to get into a situation with a pretty, blonde neighbor, which leaves him having to introduce her as his wife when they do arrive. Neither Leon's wife, when she comes home, nor the neighbor's husband are too pleased with this arrangement.

Edgar, not willing to admit to Florence (Florence Lake) that they are broke, is forced by her to give Brother (Jack Rice) a $1000 check. Edgar, in an effort to get the money to cover the check, decides to pawn Florence's diamond bracelet. Edgar doesn't know that Brother (a real jewel) has already hocked the bracelet and substituted a paste one in its place.

Leon needs to make a business deal with Mr. Marshall but can't unless his son and Marshall's daughter straighten out their romantic problems. His investigation reveals that his son isn't, but the girl's boy friend thinks Leon is.

Joe McDoakes can't find a job as a bassoonist, so he pawns his instrument. Then a friend gets him a job as a fiddle player in a gypsy tea room, but his playing drives away the diners and he is fired. He finally catches on as a one-man band.
